Sekondi-Ebiradze Royal family urged to settle chieftaincy disputes

A Standing Committee Member of the Sekondi Traditional Council and Chief of Anaji, Nana Ekra Kojo (IV), has appealed to the Ebiradze Royal Family of Sekondi to redraw the disputes before the Western Regional House of Chiefs and settle the matter among themselves amicably for unity and peace to prevail.

According to Nana Ekra Kojo (IV), the Sekondi Traditional Area Chieftaincy disputes before the leadership of Western Regional House Of Chiefs for decades has yielded no developmental results and rather delayed the progress of the Sekondi community.

Nana Ekra Kojo (IV) on behalf of Sekondi and its indigenes made the profound appeal during a grand durbar as part of the maiden Anaji Homecoming Festival (AHOFEST) on Saturday 10th August 2019.

The theme for the 2019 Homecoming Festival was: “PROMOTING CULTURE AND PROJECTING DEVELOPMENT”.

It is believed that Anaji indigenes migrated in the late 17th century from Tekyiman to Sekondi whereas the then chief of Sekondi, Nana Awua Duku gave them land for settlement.

The introduction of the Anaji Homecoming Festival by Nana Ekra Kojo (IV) and his planning committee was in line with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo’s initiative of “THE YEAR OF RETURN GHANA”; for Ghanaians in the diaspora to return to their root.

The event also offered thousands of Anaji indigenes back home to trace each other’s ancestry and identity. It was to increase cordial relationships among people, creating opportunities for community folks to share feelings and exchange ideas and taught.

Nana Ekra Kojo (IV) in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Effia-Kwesimtsim Municipal Assembly achieved various developmental projects including, 567 installation of street lights, extension of electrification and pipe-borne water to new developing areas,  construction of 6 new classroom block and rehabilitation at Anaji Estate Key Primary School, Anaji Chips Compound, Police Station and roofing of Anaji MA Primary/JHS.

Nana Ekra Kojo (IV) who is also the chairman of chiefs in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Area urged the Ebiradze Royal Family and other relevant people on the matter of Sekondi Chieftaincy disputes to consider the Sekondi community’s progress and its development rather than self-satisfaction.
