John Dumelo goes into farming

Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flag bearer in the 2016 polls, John Dramani Mahama, has revealed that he is dedicating much of his time to farming now.

Mr Dumelo, who won the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards’ Best Actor in a lead role for his movie ‘A Northern Affair’, was on campaign platforms to solicit votes for his preferred candidate prior to the December 7 election.

However, Mr Mahama lost the elections to the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo.

Even though he was not happy about the outcome, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) graduate explained: “It’s elections, somebody wins, somebody loses, and we just have to bury the hatchet and move on. Ghana is for us, let’s all see how best we can develop the country…I’m sad that we (NDC) lost, but I’ve been okay,” he said.

He, however, revealed that he was now taking up farming in addition to the numerous businesses he has set up.

“I’m doing more of farming, I’m doing more of livestock rearing and vegetable farming. That’s what I’ve been up to. Farming is always something I’ve always had love for, it’s just that farming needs a lot of time and these days I have some time on my hands, so that’s what I’m doing now. It’s something I’m going to take up very seriously,” he told Joy News’ MzGee on Thursday, January 26.

He recently announced that he had opened a new fashion/cosmetic shop in The Gambia for his JMelo range of products.
