Two Takoradi communities – Diabene and Kansawurodo, still awaiting the return of three kidnapped girls say they have lost confidence in the police.
The affected communities and aggrieved families whose daughters have been allegedly kidnapped by a Nigerian national Samuel Udoetuk Wills today at Diabene, a suburb of the Essikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region issued a press statement to announce their intent to stage a protest on the principal streets of Takoradi to express their anger.
Diabene community Youth Leader, Mr. Michael G. Hayford said they the affected families and the entire Diabene community are not happy with the manner the Ghana Police Service is handling the kidnap case.
According to them, they are not ready to notify the security agencies of their intention and routes for the demonstration because they have realized that their protection is in their own hands.
“The boot-for-boot demonstration is slated for 22nd February 2019 in solidarity of our three relatives kidnapped in Takoradi about six months ago” Michael Hayford added.
The families of kidnapped victims further appealed to His excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo to intervene on their behalf and help rescue their relatives.
Samuel Udoke Wills has according to the police confessed kidnapping the three girls and will re-appear before the Takoradi Magistrate Court on 18th February 2019. He is expected to identify the CID police officer he claims helped him escape cells on 30th December 2018 at the Takoradi Central Police station.
