Personnel from the anti-illegal mining activities – Operation Vanguard Joint Task Force (JTF), have arrested four (4) suspected Chinese illegal miners in the Western Region, in an operation conducted in the general area of Dominase-Nkwanta, in the Amenfi West District.

The operation which was conducted on Wednesday 12th 2019, arrested suspects, Zhun Yun Sheng, 31, Zhong Jun, 30, Wei Xui Wu, 29 and Liin Lital, 26, whiles two excavators that were found at the site where they were arrested, have been handed over to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

Two (2) pump action rifles, a side arm, live cartridges and personal effects found at the place of arrest, are currently being held in evidence pending further investigation.

In other operations conducted over the past two weeks from Op VANGUARD’s Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), one (1) other Chinese and six (6) locals suspected of mining illegally have been arrested, whiles some four (4) excavators have been seized and six (6) others immobilized.

Both the Chinese suspects and seized excavators were handed over to the IMCIM, whiles the locals have however been granted bail pending prosecution, as a total of 170 Changfan machines were also destroyed within the same period.
