MP for Essikado-Ketan Constituency Hon. Joe Ghartey was robbed on Monday 13th May 2019 in the late hours of the night in his apartment at Essikado, a suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region. 

Information gathered indicates that the incident happened when the Railways Minister arrived in his apartment at Essikado during the weekend from an official trip.

Luck eluded the suspect and was however grabbed by the Essikado police with the help of some neighbors. According to an eyewitness, the suspect Charles, who is said to be a known burglar in the town managed to take an amount of Four Thousand, Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (4,300.00), a laptop, phone and other important documents inside the apartment of the sector minister.

Further information gathered indicates that the suspect Charles was once nabbed for stealing a phone at the forecourt of Bethany Basic School park on 24th March 2019 by members of the Essikado Circuit of the Methodist Church Ghana during their annual Camp Meeting.

Speaking to Aptnewsghana reporter, Benjamin Bray, some of the residents at Essikado revealed that Charles had come back from police custody for similar offences but continues to sneak into people’s rooms to the extent of the MP Hon. Joe Ghartey.

As at 14:35hrs on Monday 13th May 2019 when aptnewsghana reporter, Benjamin Bray visited the Essikado Police Station, the suspect Charles was handcuffed in the station master’s office to be interrogated.
