new stma members

Minister of Works and Housing Lawyer Samuel Atta-Akyea on Thursday 23 January 2020 joined MCE Hon. Anthony K.K. Sam to inaugurate the newly reconstituted (8th) Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly at its forecourt in Sekondi.

Also gracing the occasion was a Former Deputy Western Regional Minister Betty Bosomtwi-Sam and all Heads of Department of the STMA.

Chief Executive of the STMA, Hon. Anthony KK Sam congratulated the elected members, saying their election is a mark of confidence entrusted in them that should not be taken for granted.  He advised the assembly members to come up with innovative and creative strategies to raise revenue for the assembly.

Hon. KK Sam noted that he was particularly concerned about sanitation and advised the assembly members to put premium on it. He further advised the assembly members to engage their community and account to them.

The MCE was of the hope that the Assembly would work as a united corporate institution for the development of the metropolis.

Reading an address from the Presidency, Mr Atta-Akyea charged those who lost in the elections to support the victors and work for the good of their communities. He said the assemblies are critical components of government and should be able to help achieve the set-out policies of government.

Mr. Atta-Akyea reminded the assembly members of their roles in the Free SHS, PFJ, PERD, 1D1F, 1V1D and any other government initiative to improve the living conditions of the citizenry. He further urged the STMA to take advantage of automation/technology to raise IGF to support central government in the delivering of social intervention projects. He also relayed the President’s congratulatory message to the newly elected assembly and unit committee members.
