
Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony K.K Sam has noted that the Twin-City did not perform well as expected in the National League Table due to poor sanitation especially open defecation which he says is a major challenge facing the metropolis. Hon. K.K Sam spoke to the media at the launch of the launch of 1st Assurance Report “CoST” in Takoradi.
The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly came 67th, securing 85.25% in the performance of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies “MMDAs” for the year 2018 national league table assessment. Meanwhile, the STMA occupied the 9th position with 85.25% among the MMDAs in the Western and Western-North regions combined.
The MMDAs were assessed on key performing areas including General Administration, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Reporting and Infrastructure. Others include Social Services, Economic Development, Environment and Sanitation.
He said the coastal belt in Sekondi-Takoradi including New Takoradi, Sekondi and areas like Amanful are tainted with social evils as in unacceptable attitudes that need to be controlled.
