The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a mandatory health declaration requirement for all travellers arriving in Ghana, effective Thursday, November 12, 2026.

The directive requires all passengers travelling to the country to complete and submit a Health Declaration Form before embarking on their journey.

In a press release dated November 7, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the Service said the measure forms part of efforts to strengthen public health surveillance and preparedness across the country.

The announcement is directed at the general public, airlines, travel agencies and all prospective travellers to Ghana.

Travellers Must Complete Form Before Boarding

Under the new directive, all passengers arriving in Ghana are required to complete the mandatory Health Declaration Form before boarding their flights.

The Ghana Health Service has provided an online platform for the submission of the form.

Travellers are expected to visit the official electronic health declaration portal at: https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration

The Service has strongly advised passengers to ensure that the form is properly completed and submitted before departure to avoid potential disruptions during their travel.

Airlines and other relevant stakeholders have also been urged to inform passengers about the new requirement ahead of their journeys.

GHS Explains Purpose of New Directive

According to the Ghana Health Service, the mandatory declaration is intended to strengthen the country’s public health surveillance and preparedness systems.

The measure is also expected to enhance the monitoring of potential public health risks and help safeguard the health and well-being of both residents and visitors.

The directive comes as Ghana continues to reinforce mechanisms for detecting and monitoring health-related risks associated with international travel.

The Service says compliance with the requirement will support the country’s broader efforts to protect public health.

Airlines and Travel Agencies Urged to Inform Passengers

The Ghana Health Service has called on airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders to bring the new requirement to the attention of passengers.

The institutions are expected to ensure that travellers are adequately informed before departure, particularly those planning to enter Ghana from November 12 onwards.

The Service believes early awareness and compliance will facilitate a smooth travel process while supporting public health protection efforts.

Travellers Urged to Comply

The Ghana Health Service has urged all prospective travellers to Ghana to comply with the directive by completing the required Health Declaration Form before departure.

The new requirement takes effect on Thursday, November 12, 2026.

The Service has expressed appreciation to travellers and relevant stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding as the country strengthens its public health surveillance and preparedness systems.

The announcement was issued by the Ghana Health Service Headquarters in Accra and signed by its Director-General, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea.
